Janine is psychic, but it's projecting-psychic, not receiving. She can't read minds and her powers are how she communicates. In canon she's only shown speaking to people and animals with a similar talent.
If your character is well and truly immune to psychic things, or if you'd just like her power not to work on them, please tell me. It will mean she can only talk to them through her daemon, Rontu-Aru. Or the PHP, though she's big enough that she has to get him to hit most of the buttons, anyway.
It is not a psychic skill, but Janine is observant and has an uncanny ability to pick up on subtle details about people, their emotions, if they're lying, and how they feel about each other just by watching. Of course, it's been about four years since she had people to use it on, so it's bound to be rusty. If you have anything about a character that Janine might pick up from looking at them, or if you'd rather she couldn't tell, I'd like to know.
Finally, she can sense other time travelers and time-travel-tastic items. If your character is or has such a thing, please tell me!

Date: 2012-11-05 04:31 pm (UTC)Castiel's mind is pretty much closed off and for good reasons, but his most superficial emotions are pretty easy to read. He can communicate through psychic means though.
Toph is just your regular human with some element-controlling abilities, so she's a wide open book for psychic abilities.

In his world, Raven has the ability to completely control time. He can move himself forward or back, or other beings, or objects. There's very little he can't do with it. Raven can talk to others in his more native forms by projecting his voice, too.
She would hear Janine. Octavo is an extremely skilled liar, as well, so she would be very tricky to pick up on.
He'd also hear Janine. Three is immune to some time magic, so you can have Janine pick up on that if you want. Generally, unless he's being particularly bad, it's hard to tell if Three's lying just because of his very different physiology. But feel free to have her pick up on it, if you think that she could.

Date: 2012-11-08 07:17 am (UTC)Chris is fully capable of receiving psychic transmissions. However, he is immune to being empathically read, so who knows how that might affect things.
He is, however, a notable time traveler. He has gone back and forward both times, about ~22 years each time. It's kind of his schtick. (Firefox acknowledges that 'schtick' is a word.)
There's no reason Sefton shouldn't be able to receive a transmission! He isn't inherently psychic, but he has nothing that would give him a particular immunity.
As a ghost, Liam is especially susceptible to psychic energy. Whether this means she could reach him over a longer distance or something else if up to you! ... assuming, of course, that she knows he's there to transmit to in the first place.

Date: 2012-11-08 07:25 am (UTC)Huh, cool! Janine's transmissions are broad, like with sound, so anyone in range who can hear them will. She usually vocalizes when she speaks. The pterosaur screeches actually carry somewhat farther than her raised voice... sometimes. People on the same sort of wavelength may be able to hear from farther. I think.

CAN JANINE NOTICE THINGS ABOUT HER? Qualified yes! Mal has no heartbeat/pulse/breath, so if Janine relies on those things, then no. If she relies on other tells, then the answer is sometimes! Mal is very very good at concealing her emotions and remaining aloof, but if she's rattled she reveals a lot more. Feel free to PM me if there's a particular situation that calls for more detail!
IS SHE A TIME TRAVELER? Not in the least. :P

Noticing: That she's subtly ...off. Just a little, in ways normal people would never notice.
The reason being that she actually consciously decides on every single action her body makes, because she creates it. That's why her lying only shows in body language when she specifically moves the body to do so.
She's really good at faking being a human, but if observed enough, the "off"-ness could be detectable by your character :)
